Powerful Gospel Partnership
Generation LINK seeks to equip the next generation of Laborers to Impact the Nations for the Kingdom by providing residents with significant ministry experience, intentional discipleship, leadership development, gospel community and theological training—all through summer (Summer LINK) and one-year opportunities in the local church. Generation LINK currently resides in eight locations around the world, with many more partnerships in the making. God is fulfilling this vision in increasing measure, in large part through Generation LINK’s incredible partnerships with Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) and many churches within North American Church Planting Foundation (NACPF).
This past week marked one of the most exciting weeks in all of Generation LINK’s history. Over 100 Generation LINK staff, residents, and partners gathered together in Myrtle Beach, SC, for a week of theological training, relationship building, and vision casting before launching out to eight national and international locations on one global mission.
We were blessed to have Dr. John Ewart, SEBTS Associate Vice President for Global Theological Initiatives, teach a Master’s level seminary course called Christian Missions, which Generation LINK residents could either audit or take for credit. With a pastor’s heart, Dr. Ewart equipped our residents with a theological foundation for global missions and practical tools for effective gospel ministry in diverse contexts. Dr. Ewart’s presence among us truly embodied the beauty of a healthy relationship between the seminary and the local church.
On Thursday night, these Generation LINK one-year and Summer LINK residents then had the opportunity to take what they learned in the classroom and go in teams to five locations around Myrtle Beach in order to share the gospel with the lost. As one young woman at the mall heard the gospel, she came under great conviction of her sin, repented and professed faith in Christ. Cornerstone Church of Myrtle Beach, a member of the NACPF, is now pursuing this young woman to see her join their fellowship and mature as a new disciple of Christ! Our residents were not only able to practice sharing their faith with others, but they experienced someone come to faith in Christ and were able to see the Church grow through conversion.
This week proved to be deeply unifying as the many parts that form Generation LINK came together and experienced the power of the whole. All week long, God displayed the power of his gospel, the unity that is in Christ, the beauty of his church and the great benefits from wonderful partnership among Generation LINK, SEBTS and the NACPF. It is our prayer that God would continue to use Generation LINK and its current and future partners to grow his church and make disciples for his glory.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” – Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESV)
Ryan Heard desires to be used by God to greatly impact the lives of college students in and around Clemson SC. He wants to see students come to faith in Christ, to live out the Gospel and to become disciple makers in their own spheres of influence. Ryan graduated from Clemson University in May of 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematical Sciences and is now serving full-time with Generation Link. He is in the process of completing a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
