Summer is For Sending: Summer LINK 2015 (International Locations)

“Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!” Ps. 96:1-3 This summer the Gospel has been declared among the nations. From North America to Asia the gospel has gone forth. Summer LINK 2015 included two international locations: Honduras and India. Our teams grew in their love for the nations and in their love for the Gospel. Honduras is a place that has experienced the gospel before but today the church is unhealthy and a place of condemnation and legalism. India is a place that the gospel has yet to reach. There are millions of people who have never heard of the name of Jesus. Let me introduce you to our two international teams.

The Summer LINK Honduras team was able to serve with a missionary family from Crosspoint Church. The Pirkles moved to Honduras several years ago to serve at a local hospital that desires to meet the needs of the community and share the gospel. The team was able to serve alongside of the Pirkles at the hospital and in the community. Throughout the summer they were able to teach English to 30-40 children and share the gospel with them. They were also able to hangout at a children’s home that has somewhere between 20-30 children many of whom are orphans. By God’s grace SLINK Honduras was able to grow in community this summer and also see the gospel go forth in the little community of Balfate. Several of the ladies on the team commenting about their time in Honduras said, “We have learned to address sin, and grow to be more like Christ. We pray that through the Spirit we will continue to learn to die to self daily, serve one another selflessly, and build one another up in love. “

Summer LINK India

11755230_669178323183429_6023940177939177502_n The Summer LINK India team spent the last month in one of the least reached places in the world. There is less than a 1% Christian presence in the city they worked in all summer. Concerning this lostness, one of the SLINK guys, Jared Watts, said, “Their longing for something more, something to fill the God-size hole in their hearts was so evident. The hopelessness in the people’s faces really made that apparent.”

By God’s grace they were able to evangelize the lost, disciple believers, and equip pastors to plant churches. They work alongside a team of missionaries as well as a national pastor this summer. This pastor is currently training men to plant churches all over their city to see the gospel go forth. God is redeeming his people from every tribe, tongue, language, and nation.
